Coach Marty Schottenheimer had an incredible career in the NFL, serving as the head coach for many teams, including the Washington Redskins, Kansas City Chiefs and the San Diego Chargers. Throughout his 21 years as a head coach, Marty and his family learned valuable life lessons - perseverance, flexibility, determination - and how to be comfortable with the unknown. Now, the family is entering their greatest challenge yet, as Marty transitions from coach to patient. Recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, Marty is part of a clinical trial that may one day lead to better prevention and treatment of the devastating disease. Together with Carolinas HealthCare System, the Schottenheimer family is committed to playing for a win against Alzheimer’s disease.
